Scissor lifts are used extensively in both small and large garages, which allows you to lift heavy vehicles thus providing your mechanics easy access to the underside of the vehicle. Like all heavy machinery, these scissor lifts too need timely maintenance in order to function at optimal capacity. Here is a list of maintenance checks you need to do on your scissor lifts at periodic intervals-
• Check the functioning of all the safety units such as up/ down limits, pressure relief valves, door switch, etc.
• Keep the vicinity of the scissor lifts clean. Clear out any debris and clean oil spots every day to minimize any accidents.
• Make sure that all the snap rings and clips on the axels are in order and well secure. Also ensure that the rollers, pins and bushings are not worn out beyond safe values.
• Check for any discrepancies in the welds that may have given away due to stress/ constant fatigue and have them fixed immediately.
• Check the hydraulic fittings for any leaks and cracks and clean up any spillage beneath the cylinders.
• It is advisable to change the hydraulic fluids in the cylinders semi annually to ensure optimal lift.
